A working day at the desk
The desk belongs to Travel Echelon LLC. Requests reach it three ways. The form takes them at any hour. They also come by email to the request mailbox, and by phone while the lines are staffed. Anything sent overnight gets its answer when the phone opens again. Each request goes through the same short routine, in the same order:
- Read the pickup address, the airport, the hour and the count of riders and bags
- Look for a local car company with a car free at that time
- Send you that company's fixed fare in writing
- Pass the reservation to the company once you say yes
- Follow up until the company's confirmation reaches you
How each car company gets chosen
Before a ride to or from DFW goes to any company, the desk checks two things: that the airport lists the company for pre-arranged pickups, and that the company holds an operating permit from the City of Dallas or the City of Fort Worth. Rides to or from Love Field meet the same bar, and there the permit must come from the City of Dallas, which runs that airport. Both checks come first, and each one is written down and kept on file.
From there the company takes over. It quotes the fare, sends its driver and charges the rider. Its confirmation arrives by text, and by email when you gave one, with the fare, the car, the meeting point and the company's own phone line for the day, so on the morning you fly you speak with the company that runs the car. Curb and terminal details sit on the DFW page and the Love Field page.
Where the desk's income comes from
Every car company pays the desk one set fee for each ride it receives, and that fee is the same for all of them. The desk collects it from the company, not from you. Since the fee matches from company to company, the desk is free to choose the car that suits your hour, your group and your bags.
For you this means there is nothing to pay the desk at all. The quote costs nothing and commits you to nothing. You pay the company directly, by card in the car or as its confirmation says, and the fare table shows where each size of vehicle starts.
What we ask of you before pickup
A smooth reservation starts with a clear address and a clear door. The form asks a few questions that change with the place you leave from, since a driver who waits out front can miss a rider standing by an alley garage. The pickup guide explains each kind of door. Please give us:
- The exact pickup address and the kind of door
- Your flight number, airport and terminal
- How many riders and large bags are coming
- A gate code, building number or lobby name if your door has one
- A phone number we may call or text about this request only
Plans shift, and early changes are simple. A sedan or SUV can be changed or canceled without charge up to 24 hours before the pickup time, and a van up to 7 days before. Later changes follow the terms in the company's confirmation, and the cancellation policy sets out the rest.
Start your reservation
Send your address, your airport and your hour through the request form on this page, or phone the desk while its lines are open, and a fixed fare from a local company comes back to you in writing.
